Born in 1980 in Masset, Haida Gwaii, John Brent Bennett graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.-C. and went on to obtain his Master’s degree in ne arts in 2009 from Concordia University in Montreal, QC, during which he specialized in printmaking. The artist’s inspirations, strongly rooted in the Haida culture and insular territory, echo his identity in his works, in which the usage of traditional motifs is ubiquitous throughout his compositions. His work has been exhibited in several Canadian museums and galleries.
